The Arizona Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald have agreed to an eight-year contract that could keep the star receiver with the team through the 2018 season.
The habitual All-Pro has tallied 613 receptions for 8,204 yards in his career. He also helped the Cardinals to their first Super Bowl Berth in 2008.
Terms of the agreement were not released in the team’s announcement Saturday night. But reports say it could be worth up to $120 million.
The ball has been in Fitzgerald’s court for most of the negotiations. The Cardinals made it clear – early in negotiations – they wanted him back. General Manager, Rod Graves, said previously that the team was prepared to make Fitzgerald the highest-paid player in team history and one of the highest-paid in the NFL.
Fitzgerald already holds most of the franchise’s receiving records and he shattered most of the NFL playoff receiving records in the team’s Super Bowl run after the 2008 season.
