About one month after pulling out of the 100 meter preliminaries of the U.S. Nationals, sprinter Tyson Gay, will go under the knife.
He will most likely be out six weeks to have right hip surgery. The hope is it will help and injury he has been battling since the beginning of the year.

He was already ruled out for the U.S. team heading to world championships later this summer. The surgery, performed at the Steadmon Philippon Research Institute on Tuesday, will essentially shut down the former world champion for the rest of the 2011 season.
Marc Philippon, who performed the surgery, said the operation went smoothly and he expects Gay can resume training in six to nine weeks.
Gay was rumored ot be running with some kind of tear in the right hip.
