The New York Jets reached an agreement with receiver Plaxico Burress. The details of the deal were not immediately released, but the former Super Bowl star is headed to one of the leaders for a Super Bowl bid in the AFC.
He is most likely the answer for the departing Braylon Edwards. The Jets are swapping a former Michigan receiver for a former Michigan State receiver.
Burress was recently released from prison after serving 20 months on a gun charge. But before that was lauded for caughting the game-winning touchdown in the Giants’ upset of the unbeaten New England Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl.
The free agent had also visited Pittsburgh, where he was drafted and spent five seasons.
