A few unconfirmed sources close to the Jets and to CBS Sports were saying that Nnamdi Asomugha will sign with The New York Jets all day.
While both Asomugha and his agent remained silent all day and the Jets refused to comment, the details of the offer seemed to be the last remaining hurdle.
Or not. Now multiple reports are out saying the Jets are no longer in the running.
The rumors of the move to the Jets had been building all day Friday. The two teams in the running were the New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys. It didn’t seem very complicated.
Right now, the Dallas Cowboys would have to move a lot of players and restructure a lot of contracts in order to free the space in order to sign Asomugha. While, the Jets already had the space and players will an able to restructure deals in order to sign Asomugha.
And the Jets have a chance to win – something Asomugha said was very important to him. The deal would have paired Asomugha with Pro Bowl corner Darrelle Revis. A great combination to stop any passing attack – including the one in New England.
But now that is all up in the air.
Check back to The [Five] Daily for the latest details on the Asomugha decision.
