A handful of sources – including The [Five] Daily’s Mike Lederer – are reporting that the NFL Lockout may be coming to an end, but there are still hurdles to clear. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and The Associated Press are saying talks will resume Monday and Tuesday in Washington, D.C..
By Wednesday, sources say the players will sign the new CBA. And Thursday, the owners will agree. Friday the league will start.
That is the hopeful plan. Subject to change.
With the start of the season and a new CBA there will be a 72-hour period where teams can sign their own players. By Monday free agency would begin.
Before then, though, a few more things need to be agreed on:
- Whether the NFLPA will reconstitute itself.
- What will happen to the nine players that apart of the anti-trust lawsuit filed against the NFL
- The rookie salary system (besides the length and cap)
- Free agency rules
- What to do with the $9 billion i revenue
