The [Five] Daily special contributor, Jon Marshall, is reporting that Deron Williams might decide to play in Turkey if the NBA is stuck in a lockout.
On the flip-side, the Turkish team, Besiktas, says it is close to reaching a deal with the NBA All-Star. Besiktas manager Murat Murtezaoglu told The Associated Press Thursday that talks are under way to bring Williams to Turkey. On top of that, the coach, Ergin Ataman, told a state-run news organization that a deal was close.
He is currently with the New Jersey Nets and the Nets can’t comment because of the lockout. Williams is duue $16 million next season.
Ataman told the AP that negotiations were continuing and “If he does come it would be an even greater transfer than that of Allen Iverson.”
