Yankees’ skipper Joe Girardi revealed in a press conference today that his All-Star third baseman Alex Rodriguez was held out of Friday’s lineup due to a minor tear in the cartilage of his right knee.
Last night it was reported that A-Rod, along with Derek Jeter, would not be attending the All-Star game. At the time no one was sure of the exact cause, but an MRI on Rodriguez’s knee revealed the tear, and Girardi let the public know today about the results of the test.
Girardi also noted that a decision would need to be made whether Rodriguez would play through the injury, or if he will undergo a surgical procedure which would sideline the third baseman for a month.
