Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced today that reliever Joba Chamberlain is likely to have Tommy John surgery and be out for the season.
The possible surgery could come as a result of a torn ligament in Chamberlain’s right elbow.
“My guess is he probably is going to have to have surgery,” Girardi said Thursday.
With both Chamberlain and Rafael Soriano currently out due to injury, the Yankees have a lot of holes to fill in front of their future hall of fame closer, Marino Rivera.
