The NFL lockout in it’s fourth month and the NBA is headed toward the same fate. The NBA collective bargaining agreement ends on June 30, only six days away – regardless of what the players choose to wear.
But that didn’t stop some players from adorning “STAND” shirts at a meeting between owners and players Thursday. The shirts were designed to promote solidarity and togetherness.
According to reports from The Associated Press:
The union’s executive committee was joined by a large contingent of players in New York for player representative meetings who
decided to attend Friday’s negotiating session.Executive director Billy Hunter says he was told late Thursday night that the players had decided to attend. He said the message
of their attendance in shirts reading “STAND” was “just solidarity, that we have to stand together, we have to be unified and be prepared to address whatever the circumstance is, but address it together.”
As of now, though, regardless of their attire, as time ticks closer to the June 30 deadline, both sides are still split.
