The Toronto Raptors willl hire former Dallas Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey as the team’s new head coach.
DallasNews.com was the first to report Casey’s hiring.
Casey will be getting a second chance at head coaching in the NBA. He led the Minnesota Timberwolves for a season a half finishing with a 53-69 record. Casey was fired in Minnesota during the middle of the 2006-2007 season.
He has served as Rick Carlisle’s top assistant in Dallas for the past three seasons. Carlisle referred to Casey as his defensive coordinator and credits him with the Mavericks success defensively in the postseason.
