Washington Nationals manager Jim Riggleman has resigned.
Riggleman said the team was not committed to him over the long term. The Nationals had not given him an answer on his optionn for the 2012 season.
The Nationals are currently one of the hottest teams in baseball.
Riggleman’s decision caught the Nationals franchise by surprise. General manager Mike Rizzo said he’ll announce Friday who will manage the team this weekend during a road series in Chicago against the White Sox.
