Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Contreras will miss the next 4-6 weeks due to a grade one strain of the flexor tendon in his right pitching elbow.
The Phillies placed Contreras on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday morning. To take his spot on the 25-man roster the team has called up veteran left handed reliever Juan Perez from AAA Lehigh Valley.
This is Contreras’s second trip to the disable list due to an elbow strain this season.
In 17 games this season Contreras is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 14 innings.
