The Tar Heels of North Carolina have to be feeling pretty good. The team’s starters Patrick Johnson and Kent Emanuel had a great weekend in the Regional – and the two hope to build on last weekend’s strong pitching performances.
The two combined for 16 shoutout innings and only allowed 10 combined hits during NCAA Regionals play.
The Tar Heels face the Stanford Cardinal in the NCAA Super Regional this weekend.
The Tar Heels (48-14) are the No. 3 national seed for the NCAA tournament. They steam-rolled through the Regional games – winning three games by a combined score of 27-3.
Both Johnson and Emanuel will be the starts for this weekend’s opening games. Coach Mike Fox will be leaning on them in the best-of-three games series against the Cardinal (35-20).
The Tar Heels face the Cardinal, winners of five-consecutive games and winners of the Fullerton Regional tournament.
