With the 1st pick in the 2011 NBA Draft the Cleveland Cavaliers have selected Duke guard Kyrie Irving.
Irving was expected to be the top overall selection.
He joins Elton Brand as the only two players from Duke University to be selected number one overall.
In 11 games at Duke the 6’3” 195 pound point guard averaged 17.5 points and 4.3 assists during his freshman season. He missed 26 games due to a toe injury on his right foot.
