Barry Bonds might be facing more time in front of a judge. Federal prosecutors are due in court Thursday with plans to discuss yet another trial surrounding the All-Star.
Sides will meet and determine if another perjury trial for Bonds is necessary.
Recall that a jury convicted Bonds of obstruction of justice April 13 but the jury ended up “deadlocked” – as one report phrased it – on three different counts of obstruction in regards to lying about using performance enhancing drugs..
Prosecutors must decide whether to drop those charges or schedule a new trial.
Meanwhile, according to The Associated Press, Bonds’ attorneys have asked U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston to acquit Bonds of the obstruction conviction or toss it out and hold another trial on that count. But, the judge will decide that issue later.
