Arizona AD wants fans help keeping players trouble free

The Pac-10 (now Pac-12) has always been a classy league. Outside of USC, it is, on average, the least penalized of the BCS conferences.

Considerably less than the SEC and Big 10.

It’s not to say rhe schools of the Pac-10 are always doing things by the book – but they just don’t get caught. Or haven’t yet.

But, it’s evident that at least the Pac-10 schools are acting in good faith. Today, Arizona Athletic Director, Greg Byrne, asked fans to keep a eye out for players receiving improper benefits.

In his weekly email that is also posted on the Arizona athletics website, Byrne points to the Big 10, more specifically Ohio State, at a beacon of “what not to do” and hopes that the fanbase at Arizona will help keep the Wildcats out of trouble.

He wrote that “our fan base and internally on the absolute need to pay attention to the rules everyday” and if they “ever know of a situation where a student-athlete is receiving an extra benefit (something that the rest of the student body would not receive) please contact me …”

He also encouraged the fans to read the Sports Illustrated story about Ohio State.
