Tiger Woods withdraws from Players Championship

Tigers Woods has withdrawn from The Players Championship after shooting a 42 on the front nine of the first round on Thursday morning.

Thursday marked Woods’ first competitive event since the Masters. He has been recovering from knee and Achilles injuries.

After completing the front nine, Woods handed his scorecard to playing partner Martin Kaymer and left the course.

Following Woods’ exit fellow golfer Graeme McDowell tweeted:

“Just saw Tiger come limping by me in the locker room. Considering he’s supposed to be on the course I’m guessing that’s not a good sign…”
