Mike Brown may go from coaching LeBron James to coaching Kobe Bryant.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski on Yahoo Sports the Lakers are in serious discussions with Mike Brown about becoming the franchise’s head coach.
The report has since been corroborated by SI.com and the L.A. Times.
The contract Brown would sign, according to the L.A. Times, is worth between $4 million and $4.5 million per season.
Brown was fired after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost in the 2nd round of the 2010 NBA Playoffs to the Boston Celtics.
A disciple of Greg Popovich in San Antonio, Brown went 272-138 in 5 seasons as a head coach in Cleveland. He coached the Cavaliers to the 2007 NBA Finals and was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2009.
Brown is currently working as a basketball analyst for ESPN.
