The current NBA collective Bargaining agreement is coming to an end and it is effecting one non-player in particular.
Ricky Rubio has to decided if he wants to play.
Rubio, drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009 and hasn’t signed with the team because he is still under contract overseas. Under the current NBA CBA, Tuesday is the last day Rubio can sign his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves under the existing rookie pay scale.
According to the Associated Press:
If the Spanish point guard does not sign a contract with the Wolves by the end of business on Tuesday, he will not be able to sign until the beginning of the new fiscal league year. With labor unrest plaguing the league, it is not certain when that new year will begin and what the new rules will be when the NBA resumes.
As of the end of the business day, Tuesday, there was no word from the Timberwolves on if Rubio had signed. The team did not comment on Rubio, saying they wouldn’t discuss his contract until the European season ends in June.
