According to Andy Katz of ESPN.com, the University of Maryland has offered Mark Turgeon their vacant head coaching position.
The same source told Katz that the current Texas A&M coach had not accepted yet.
Turgeon has coached the Aggies to the NCAA tournament in each of his four seasons at the school and has a potential top 25 team next season. He also coached Wichita State to the Sweet 16.
Maryland is looking to fill the vacancy left by legendary head coach Gary Williams last Thursday. The 66-year old Williams won 668 games during his coaching career, including 461 at Maryland. He went to 14 NCAA tournaments, won three ACC regular-season titles and had seven Sweet 16 appearances, two Elite Eights and two Final Fours. Williams won the 2002 NCAA National Championship and was the coach of the year in 2002 and the ACC coach of the year in 2002 and 2010.
