The Phillies have activated left-handed reliever JC Romero from the 15-day disabled list.
To make room for Romero on the roster, right handed reliever David Herndon was optioned to AAA Lehigh Valley.
The 34-year-old Romero has been on the disabled list since April 19 after suffering a right calf strain. He made one rehab appearance with Single A Lakewood on Tuesday evening allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one.
Before going to the DL, Romero had a 3.86 ERA in 4.2 innings this season. He posted a 3.68 ERA in 60 games for the Phillies in 2010.
Herndon has been ineffective in the early portion of the 2011 season. The former Rule 5 draft pick has posted a 9.28 ERA in 11 appearances.
