NCAA denies USC appeal, Trojans may lose BCS trophy

The USC Trojans are involved in another uphill battle.

The football program, already facing sanctions and punishment, is now fighting to keep the 2004 BCS National Championship trophy. Recall, USC won the 2004 National Championship beating Oklahoma 55-19 in the Orange Bowl. It capped off a perfect season.

It was later discovered that Trojans running back Reggie Bush received improper benefits and ruled ineligible for the season.

The BCS is discussing revoking the win. BCS Executive Director, Bill Hancock, indicated no timetable for making said decision but that one will happen “sooner, rather than later.”

Right now, the championship would be left vacant even though Auburn and Utah also finished the ’04 season unbeaten.
