The New York Mets have placed 1st baseman Ike Davis on the 15-day disabled list due to an injured left foot.
Davis injured his left foot after colliding with teammate David Wright on a pop-up in the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies. He was initially diagnosed with a strained left calf muscle and was sent back to New York for further evaluations on Wednesday.
After Tuesday night’s game Davis was seen in the Mets locker room wearing a protective boot on his left foot.
The Mets have recalled outfielder Fernando Martinez to take Davis’ spot on the 25-man active roster.
