Ex-NFL’ers “take a hike”

Three former NFL’ers are “taking a hike” for a good cause, raising awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Retired New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher and retired thre-time Pro Bowl player, tight end Chad Lewis, will try to climb Mount Kilimanjaro starting next week and will be joined by four injured service members.

Bryan Wagner of Exeter, Calif., and Ben Lunak of Grand Forks, N.D., who each lost a leg; Mike Wilson of Annapolis, Md., who struggles with the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury; and Nancy Schiliro of Hartsdale, N.Y., who lost an eye, will join the three former NFL’ers.

The team will start on May 13 and the goal is to reach the summit, more than 19,000 feet, of Kilimanjaro by May 19.
