David Wright has stress fracture in back

New York Mets 3rd baseman David Wright will be sidelined for the foreseeable future with a stress fracture in his lower back.

According to Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson, Wright will receive a second opinion before being placed on the disabled list.

Back surgery is not expected to be required.  Wright will rest for the next 10 days before resuming baseball activities.

Wright and the Mets believe the injury happened on April 19 against the Houston Astros when Wright tried to make a diving tag on outfielder Carlos Lee.

Wright is hitting just .226 with six homers and 18 RBIs on the season.  Willie Harris will take his spot in the lineup at 3rd base.
