Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Dallas Braden will undergo surgery on Monday to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder.
Braden was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 17, a day after he pitched five scoreless innings at Detroit but left early with a stiff left shoulder.
Braden’s recovery time will be determined from the results of the operation.
The lefty is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA this season. Braden became the 20th pitcher in Major League history to pitch a perfect game when he defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Mother’s Day 2010.
