Arizona Cardinals guard Alan Faneca has announced his retirement from the National Football League.
The nine-time Pro Bowler played 13 seasons in the NFL including 10 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, two with the New York Jets, and last season with the Arizona Cardinals.
Faneca is considered by most to be one of the most dominant guards of his generation and is expected to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame down the line.
In a statement released to ESPN’s Adam Schefter Faneca wrote, “After a lot of thought I am announcing my retirement from professional football. Playing in the NFL has been a childhood dream come true. Thirteen years later I have decided that it is time to move on.”
