Kansas State is in the news – and it’s not Frank MArtin.
Wildcats’ left fielder Nick Martini didn’t reach base on Sunday, snapping his 93 game streak.
It was an anti-climactic end to the streak. Martini grounded out twice and flew out twice and on his final at-bat watched a called third strike.
Martini’s streak started in the final game of the 2009 season. He also had at least one hit in 76 of the 93 games.
According to The Associated Press, Elon’s Cory Harrilchak had the longest Division I streak before Martini. Harnichak reached base in 86 games over the 2008-09 seasons.
