Toronto FC, L.A. Galaxy end in draw

In a scoreless draw that saw five yellow cards and one red issued, Toronto FC and the Los Angeles Galaxy played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night.

It was L.A. Galaxy midfielder David Beckham’s first game in Toronto since the 2008 MLS All-Star game. He was marginally ineffective, hitting the post on a free kick and grabbing two yellow cards. Toronto FC striker Alan Gordon was also slowed. He couldn’t extend his scored goals streak to three games.

There were few opportunities for each side to score throughout the match.

But LA tried early.

It took 26 minutes for Toronto to respond. Jacob Peterson tried to “Bend it like Beckham” and curled a free kick right onto the head of Gianluca Zavarise but LA goalie Donovan Ricketts was there.
