Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Leake was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center today, accused of theft, according to cincinnati.com.
Leake allegedly stole $59.88 from the downtown Cincinnati Macy’s. The store’s loss prevention team stopped Leake and the store’s security cameras caught the entire incident on tape.
According to records, Leake’s salary is $425,000 for 2011.
Leake was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center following the arrest. The first-degree misdemeanor charge carries a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail, according to The Associated Press
The Reds have offered no comment.
