The NFL lockout is back on.
Just hours after the league re-opened its doors for business the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals has issued a temporary stay of execution reinstating the lockout.
The stay of execution is of the “administrative” variety, meaning the lockout would not be lifted until Monday at the earliest. At that point, the Eighth Circuit would weigh the players’ argument against a stay pending the league’s appeal of Judge Nelson’s ruling.
The temporary stay is in place until the Eighth Circuit has time to rule on whether a stay should be placed on Judge Nelson’s ruling of an injunction. If the Eight Circuit grants a stay of execution on Judge Nelson’s ruling it would last until the appeal process is completed. The appeal process is expected to last until at least early June.
After welcoming players back into their facilities this morning and beginning to organize offseason activities teams are now forced to close their doors once again.
