Here is the second round Mock selections for the 2011 NFL Draft. Keeping in mind that trades have been purposefully not included.
1 (33) Patriots – Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
The Patriots will continue to stockpile talent in later rounds…
2(34) Bills – Justin Houston, DE/LB, Georgia
The leagues worst run defense will get some help.
3(35) Bengals – Ryan Mallet, QB, Arkansas
This is a bit of a stretch. I’m not (incredibly) confident they’ll make this move but I have a sneaking suspicion.
4(36) Broncos – Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State
The standout from the Pac-10 will fit in well in Denver and help open things up for the other draftee, Von Miller.
5(37) Browns – Brandon Harris, CB, Miami
Harris is a speedy CB (4.4, 40-yard dash) that is decent in coverage and will add depth to the Browns pass defense
6(38) Cardinals – Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA
The Cardinals need help stopping the run.
7(39) Titans – Randall Cobb, WR, Kentucky
Nate Washington and Kenny Britt don’t exactly scare anyone…
8(40) Cowboys – Aaron Williams, CB, Texas
Williams stays in-state, Cowboys try and help their pass defense
9(41) Redskins – Andy Dalton, QB, TCU
The Donovan McNabb project was a disaster and Rex Grossman is as bad as his last name sounds.
10(42) Texans – Martez Wilson, LB, Illinois
Brian Cushing needs assistance.
11(43) Vikings – Orlando Franklin, OL, Miami
The Vikings need depth on the offensive line.
12(44) Lions – Ben Ijalana, OL, Georgia
Someone needs to protect Matthew Stafford
13(45) 49ers – Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada
Alex Smith is not the answer, neither is Troy Smith.
14(46) Broncos (From Miami) – Greg Little, WR, North Carolina
This big WR will give (who ever wins the quarterback position, sorry Kyle Orton fans) a big target across the middle.
15(47) Rams – Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech
Stephen Jackson will be in his ninth season as a pro and is starting to show signs of slowing down.
16(48) Raiders – Torrey Smith, WR, MAryland
The Raiders love to go “Vih-tic-ole” and Smith will give them an option for Al Davis’ favorite style of offense.
17(49) Redskins (From Jaguars) – Mikel Leshoure, RB, Illinois
Ryan Torain worked last year, but they’ll look to get a real RB in the draft.
18(50) Chargers – Daniel Thomas, RB, Kansas State
Truthfully, I bet they trade this pick away, but if they do make a choice, it will be Thomas.
19(51) Buccaneers – Clint Boling, OL, Georgia
Opening holes and protecting the QB, this is what the Bucs need.
20(52) Giants – William Rackley, OL, Lehigh
Tjhe Giants are getting old on the line, Rackley is going to give depth and security for when the “old guys” need some oxygen on the sidelines.
21(53) Colts – Jabaal Sheard, DT, Pittsburgh
What do the Colts always need? Defensive linemen.
22(54) Eagles – Johnny Patrick, CB, Louisville
The Eagles would ahve loved Jimmy Smith, and this is a better pick than a 26-year-old retired fireman.
23(55) Chiefs – Marcus Cannon, OL, TCU
Getting older on the offensive line…
24(56) Patriots (From Saints) – Bruce Carter, LB, North Carolina
The Patriots lacked a decent pass rush last season, the addition of Bowers and Carter will help.
25(57) Seahawks – Ricky Stanzi, QB, Iowa
This is a desperation pick.
26(58) Ravens – Titus Young, WR, Boise State
This will give the Ravens some youth at WR.
27(59) Browns (From Falcons) – Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami
This is someone to put opposite Joshua Cribbs.
28(60) Patriots – Kendell Hunter, RB, Oklahoma State
The lawfirm was good, but the Patriots like to use a running back-by-committee.
29(61) Chargers (From New York Jets) – Tandon Doss, WR, Indiana
Doss will start as a third or fourth option in San Diego, but will give Rivers another weapon.
30(62) Bears – Greg Salas, WR, Hawaii
The Bears need WR talent.
31(63) Steelers – Rodney Hudson, OL, Florida State
The Steelers need depth at offensive line.
32(64) Packers -Daniel Ziemba, OL, Auburn
The Packers need to replace some age on the offensive line.
