NBA cancels Summer League in anticipation of lockout

Another sign that another lockout is around the corner in professional sports.

The NBA has cancelled its annual Las Vegas summer league.

The New York Daily News’ Mitch Lawrence was the first to report the story.

The Las Vegas summer league normally starts in early July, with upwards of 20 teams, sending little-used veteran players and rookies to compete over a 10-day period.

Owners and players have not held formal negotiations since mid-February, but are expected to resume talks this month. The collective bargaining agreement expires June 30.
