Miami’s Brad Fieger belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning to push 19th-ranked Miami Hurricanes past Maryland Terrapins, 5-2, at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.
It didn’t surprise Head Coach, Jim Morris. After all, this was the 800th time he’d collected a “W” with his team.
He’s been coaching for 18 years at The U and is now 800-310-3 at Miami. He’s 1,304-554-4 in 29 seasons as a Division I coach overall.
Under Morris, Miami has reached the the post season 38 consecutive years (a record), the College World Series 11 times and has two national championships (1999 and 2001).
Sunday’s win improved Miami to 24-12 this season, 13-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
