Judge Nelson combines two cases as injunction case nears

U.S. District Judge Susan Nelson has decided to combine two cases requesting an end to the NFL lockout.

With Tom Brady vs. NFL set to commence on Wednesday, Judge Nelson has announced that she will hear arguments from attorneys for Brady, Drew Brees and other current players, as well as attorneys for retired players. The current players and retirees have filed similar antitrust lawsuits against the league in addition to their requests for an injunction to stop the lockout.

The players say the lockout should be stopped because it’s causing irreparable harm. The retirees say it could jeopardize retirement benefits subsidized by the league.

Both parties will get their first chance to argue their stance when they are given 20 minutes each to make the case in court on Wednesday.
