After dropping back-to-back games against teh Red Sox, the Blue Jays are making moves.
The Toronto Blue Jays traded southpaw David Purcey to the Oakland Athletics for to right-hander Daniel Farquhar.
Farquhar, 24, was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 10th round of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft. In the Blue Jays farm system he never reached Triple-A.
He has a 8-9 career record in the minors with a 2.50 ERA.
He started the year on the Triple-A Oakland affiliate, Sacramento. Farquhar pitched eight shutout innings over four relief appearances this year for Triple-A Sacramento of the Pacific Coast League, striking out nine.
The 28-year-old Purcey had an 11.57 ERA in five games and 2 1-3 innings, allowing four walks and three hits. He was designated for assignment last Wednesday.
Toronto said Monday that Farquhar will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
