After failing in their attempt to get a stay of execution from Judge Susan Nelson’s ruling on the injunction ending the lockout, the NFL has sent a memo to all 32 teams informing them of how they plan to move forward.
As of 8am EST on Friday morning the league will open for business. Players can come to team facilities to get treatment, work out, and receive play books. Teams will be allowed to conduct offseason training activities and begin other offseason programs.
The league has yet to announce how it will proceed regarding player transactions. The NFL stated that it will advise teams on Friday on how to proceed with free agency and trades.
The league opening for business is still contingent on the 8th circuit of appeals ruling on the league’s request for a stay of execution. If a stay is granted, all of this is moot.
In the short-term this means that there will be no trades involving current players during at least the first round of the 2011 NFL draft on Thursday night.
