March Madness Preview: No. 7 Washington vs. No. 10 Georgia

Matchup:

Pac-10 vs. SEC – this is why people watch… football! Too bad this is a basketball game. In reality, Washington is either really good (read: Pac-10 tourney) or really bad (read: February 2011). Georgia, hit the same type of skid as Washington in February, going 4-4 down the stretch. Both teams are more up and down than a Richter Scale.

Washington

The Huskies won the Pac-10 tournament after a very pedestrian February. Guard Isiah Thomas, averaging 17 points and six assists, is going to need to carry his team. While the Huskies utilize a “team” effort by giving nearly the entire roster 15-minutes of PT every game, Thomas needs to step up and lead. The team does get quick-handed guard Venoy Overton back, too.

Georgia

Georgia’s last trip to the Big Dance was 2009 when they were bounced by Xavier. This year, while the Bulldogs lean on forward Trey Tompkins’ 16 points, seven boards and two blocks per game, they will really need guard Gerald Robinson to step back into the role he played earlier in the season. The real question: Can Robinson hang with Isiah Thomas?

In [Five] words of less

And the answer is no.
