March Madness Preview: No. 5 Arizona vs. No.12 Memphis

Matchup:

It’s a “one-man-band” vs. a “team effort”. The Arizona Wildcats go through one man on offense while the Memphis Tigers use four players to get the job done.

Arizona

Led by Derrick Williams 19 ppg, Arizona could be set to look like the 2007 Ohio State Buckeyes – Williams is touted as NBA-ready and can quietly put up big points. On D, they crash the glass. The Wildcats were 21-1 when they won the battle of the boards.

Memphis

Memphis lost three of their last five down the stretch but sured up their play in the postseason – and won the C-USA tourney. The Tigers play team ball. During the C-USA Tournament, Memphis’ bench averaged about 33 points per game. Guards Will Barton and Joe Jackson need to play well if the Tigers want a shot. Barton is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder (12 ppg, 5 rpg) and Jackson was C-USA Tourney MVP.
