Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd arrested

The Golden Domers have less to be beaming about. Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd was arrested a few hours before dawn.

For DUI. Floyd’s blood-alcohol level was .19-percent, .11 over the legal limit. He also failed three field sobriety tests.

It was his third run-in with the law regarding alcohol in the past three years.

He was booked into the county jail in South Bend about 4 a.m. Sunday and released several hours later after posting the $500 bond. Floyd is now scheduled to appear in court on May 2.

Floyd apologized in a statement through the school.

Coach Brian Kelly said, in a statement, football needs to take a backseat in Floyd’s life and the suspension won’t be lifted until Floyd changes his behavior.

The soon-to-be senior was Notre Dame’s leading receiver last season – 79 receptions for 1,025 yards. He decided to return for his senior season instead of entering the NFL draft – something that may have been a wise choice given the NFL Labor disagreements.

Spring practices start Wednesday.
