Arguably the greatest linebacker of all-time, former New York Giants star Lawrence Taylor, could be tackling a new lifestyle – the life as a registered sex offender.
THE [LATEST] from the Associated Press:
Former football star Lawrence Taylor has been sentenced in New York to six years on probation. Taylor will also have to abide by the conditions of a sex offender. But the judge postponed until April 12 the hearing to determine what level of sex offender will be assigned to him.
Taylor pleaded guilty to “patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute” in January after being accused of paying $300 to have sex with the Bronx runaway in a Montebello hotel room. Under the deal struck with the court, he isn’t expected to get jail time but six years’ probation instead.
And he has to register as a sex offender.
It will be interesting if he has to go door-to-door in his area informing people of his new “identity,” though, with such a high-profile athlete, that is unlikely.
Taylor will be in court today for sentencing. State Supreme Court Justice William Kelly said he would also determine the sex-offender-level of Taylor.
Sex offenders are labeled Level 1, 2 or 3 for low, medium or high risk. Though, Level 1 offenders do not have their names and photos posted on a public Internet site, according to the Associated Press
