The Memphis Grizzlies have signed power forward Leon Powe for the remainder of the season.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward met with Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace on Wednesday, and picked Memphis over the New Orleans Hornets, New York Knicks and Miami Heat.
Powe was bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers last week. He appeared in just 14 games this season but says his surgically repaired knees are no longer a problem after undergoing knee surgery in January. Powe played in just 34 games for the Cavs since signing in Cleveland in 2009.
“I love to play defense,” Powe said. “I can get some scoring, rebounding, and some extra toughness. That’s my type of game. I think every team could use that, but we’ll see what happens from here on out.”
