Free agent forward-center Troy Murphy has agreed to sign with the Boston Celtics.
Murphy spent the last 48 hours debating between offers from the Celtics and Miami Heat and ultimately deciding he would have his best chance at winning a championship by signing with the Celtics.
6-foot-10 forward was always determined to sign with a top contender in anticipation of making the first deep playoff run of his career. Murphy has played in more games (639) than any other active player without appearing in the playoffs.
Murphy was bought out by the Golden State Warriors on Monday after being acquired by the team just before last week’s trading deadline.
