Super Squib wins Wing Bowl XIX

Philadelphia, PA – As the nation gets set for Super Bowl XLV, the city of Brotherly Love hosted its own event on Friday Morning as Wing Bowl XIX commenced at 6am at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

The Wing Bowl began 19 years ago as an event for the city of Philadelphia to stay busy during Super Bowl Weekend considering the home town Philadelphia Eagles were never involved in football’s biggest game of the season. What began as an eating contest in a small banquet hall has expanded to a major event in which 20,000+ fanatics go to the home of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers in the middle of the night to watch eaters chow down wings.

Lots of alcohol and naked women fill the stands as each competitor enters the stadium on a float to the roar of the crowd.

26 men competed in this year’s event and New Jersey accountant Jon “Super” Squib came away with his third straight Wing Bowl crown. Squib set a new Wing Bowl record finishing 255 wings in 30 minutes. Estimates show that would be about 40,000 calories and 2,550 grams of fat.

Squib barely held off Wing Bowl Hall of Famer “El Wingadore” who finished with 254 wings. “Drunken Mussel” and “Lord Bemis” rounded out the final four.
