Yikes.
You would hope an NBA commentator would be interested enough in his craft to stay awake while on the job. Well that doesn’t appear to be the case for 76ers color commentator Eric Snow.
The former NBA point guard joined the Sixers team as a broadcaster at the start of the 2010-2011 season and his first year on the job has been a disaster to put it kindly.
And that was before this exchange from Wednesday night’s game in Houston.
Transcribing:
Zumoff: You meditating?
Snow: Naw, I thought I was.. trying to stay awake. You have some people that, you know, kind of wear on you.
Zumoff: I hear you.
Snow: They’re gonna get you a little sleepy. So you yougetta you have to get your burst of energy. That’s how it is with basketball too.
Zumoff: Well listen…
Snow: No, I’m saying sometimes when you hear people talking in the huddle, and they be like blah blah blah and then the game starts and you go OK, time to go.
Zumoff: Then you snap to attention…
Snow: It’s no different when you’re on the sidelines.
Was Snow literally asleep behind the desk? Watch for yourself below (exchange begins right around the 1:00 mark):
