The New Jersey Nets will trade PG Devin Harris by Thursday’s trading deadline. In fact a deal could be consummated as soon as Wednesday.
The Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trailblazers, and Atlanta Hawks are the three teams in pursuit of the former All Star guard. Atlanta is not thought to be a serious suitor for Harris as they are unwilling to part with forward Marvin Williams.
The Nets have asked the Mavericks for injured forward Caron Butler, Dominique Jones, and a first round draft pick in exchange for Harris and Quintin Ross. However Dallas is reluctant to part with Jones and a draft pick and is currently just offering Butler for Harris.
The Trailblazers and Nets are discussing a deal that would center around Harris and the expiring contract of Troy Murphy going to Portland for point guard Andre Miller and center Joel Przybilla. Former #1 overall pick Greg Oden could also be included in the deal.
One way or another, Harris will likely be a member of the Mavericks or Trailblazers within the next 24 hours.
