The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed 1B Russell Branyan to a minor-league contract according to Sports Illustrated’s Joe Lemire.
Branyan will add some power to the Diamondbacks lineup and will compete with Juan Miranda and Brandon Allen at 1st base.
Last season Branyan hit .237 with 25 home runs and 57 RBIs in 109 games with the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners. In 13 seasons he’s hit .234 with 189 homers and 453 RBIs.
