The Carolina Panthers have placed the franchise tag on C Ryan Kalil. He will receive a one-year tender offer worth the average of the top five highest-paid players at his position. It’s expected Kalil will make about $10 million in 2011 under the tag, since all offensive linemen are lumped together.
The 26-year old Kalil has appeared in each of the last two Pro Bowls.
The move also means that DE Charles Johnson and RB DeAngelo Williams will become unrestricted free agents.
