Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl rookie center Maurkice Pouncey has been officially ruled out for Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers.
Although Pouncey said during the week that there was a 75% chance he would play in the Super Bowl, he failed to practice and head coach Mike Tomlin made the move official on Friday afternoon.
Pouncey suffered a high-ankle sprain in the AFC Championship game against the New York Jets.
Backup center Doug Legursky will likely start in Pouncey’s place.
