Plenty of movement in the Top 25 after the second full week of college baseball, with the Top 5 shuffling ranks and a few newcomers crashing the Top 25.
Let’s welcome five new teams to the Top 25: California, East Carolina, Maryland, San Jose State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Golden Bears were just outside of the Top 25 last week, and began the week with a one run loss to archrival No. 10 Stanford. Cal then traveled across the country to win three straight at the Caravelle Resort’s Tournament in Conway, S.C. California started the tournament off with a huge 17-0 win over then-No. 21 Coastal Carolina.
The East Carolina Pirates dropped two games to No. 13 Virginia, but the win on Sunday helped ECU push into the Top 25.
Maryland won four games over the past week, which when added to a victory last week at No. 8 Texas helped the Terrapins round out the Top 25.
San Jose State has been playing out of its head entering the past weekend 4-0, only to take two straight from then-No. 1 UCLA. The Spartans knocked off two of the best pitchers in the nation in the Bruins’ Trevor Bauer and Gerrit Cole.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi entered the week 4-0, before traveling to Austin, Texas where it defeated No. 8 Texas. While playing host to the Kieberg Bank College Classic, the Islanders knocked off two time national champion Oregon State on Saturday.
